July
Long time, no bloggy.
With so much social networking around, it’s rare that I feel the call to express much beyond 140 characters, but there’s enough excitement brewing over here that I feel compelled to ‘check in’ with ya’ll.
This Tuesday August 3rd, I’m releasing a live EP, my first. It was the easiest of all my records to name – ‘Live in LA.’ Boom. Done.
The recording is taken from my show on July 19th at Hotel Cafe. It was a great night – my FAVORITE show of the last few years. I felt grounded and connected and was supported by fantastic musicians – George Stanford and Sarah Roberts – who really elevated the songs and made the night special. The recording is decent - there’s a bit of noise from the amp that George was using, my guitar sometimes it pitchy, and the mix isn’t exactly what I want – but I think it captures the spirit of the evening and that’s what’s most important with a live recording.
This is a release that I haven’t stewed over. I just listened, liked it, and am putting it out. Total victory for a soul that has a tendency to brood.
Here’s the cover – photo taken by Josh, text by Sean Akers
Here’s the tracklist:
1. Ghosts
2. Subterranean
3. Mistake
4. Over my Head
5. Hard to Breathe
‘Live in LA’ will only be available digitally at Bandcamp.com. Bandcamp offers better quality MP3s than iTunes and is super easy to use. Plus they don’t take a cut like other online music stores. If you have any questions, I will be happy to walk you through the process personally
I’m also lucky to have a fan/friend who managed to sneak footage of the whole show. Hotel Cafe is strict about video, so kudos to Jennifer for being such a secret agent! I’m posting a new video from the show every Monday for the next month. Here’s the first one posted earlier this week:
Next month, I get back to work recording with George. I’m about halfway done with my next record and I’m super excited to finish it up with some brand new songs. In the meantime, I have one final promo push for ride that is/was ‘Sad Britney.’ At long last, the oft-promised music video for ‘Gimme More’ is being shot this Sunday. Director Derek Woods has a great visual idea for the song and I’m stoked to see the finished product. I don’t know how long it will take before it’s ready for viewing, but it’s sure to be pretty slick.
Now I’m off to hang out one last day with my mama before she goes back to Michigan. We have had a lovely 3 day visit and I will be sad to see her go.
Thanks as always for your hearts and your ears. It means the world

If you want to buy a house, you would have to receive the home loans. Furthermore, my sister all the time takes a commercial loan, which occurs to be really useful.

So not really on the same topic as your post, but I found this today and I just can’t resist sharing. Mrs. Agathe’s dishwasher quit working so she called a repairman. Since she had to go to work the next day, she told him, “I’ll leave the key under the mat. Fix the dishwasher, leave the bill on the counter, and I’ll mail you the check. Oh, and by the way…don’t worry about my Doberman. He won’t bother you. But, whatever you do, do NOT under ANY circumstances talk to my parrot!” When the repairman arrived at Mrs. Agathe’s apartment the next day, he discovered the biggest and meanest looking Doberman he had ever seen. But just as she had said, the dog simply laid there on the carpet, watching the repairman go about his business. However, the whole time the parrot drove him nuts with his incessant cursing, yelling and name-calling. Finally the repairman couldn’t contain himself any longer and yelled, “Shut up, you stupid ugly bird!” To which the parrot replied, “Get him, Spike!”

@chels I know what you mean, its hard to find good help these days. People now days just don’t have the work ethic they used to have. I mean consider whoever wrote this post, they must have been working hard to write that good and it took a good bit of their time I am sure. I work with people who couldn’t write like this if they tried, and getting them to try is hard enough as it is.
